How to Be a Delusional Content Creator (and Make Money from It)

Alma Asinobi was delusional until she visited 7 continents in 3 days and has become one of the best paid content creators in Nigeria.

Greatness starts with delusion so why fight it and try to be "real"?

Welcome to the world of the delusional content creator—where confidence, storytelling, and a little bit of make-believe can turn into actual success.

If you’ve ever felt like no brands are noticing you, no one is engaging with your content, and you’re stuck in an endless loop of creating without reward, maybe it’s time to be a little delusional—but in a strategic way.

The truth is, perception matters more than reality in the world of content creation. If you act like a brand-worthy creator, you become one. If you market yourself as valuable, brands will see you as valuable. You're not lying, you're creating a presence that makes brands want to work with you.

So, let’s talk about how to be a delusional content creator and make actual money from it. Stick to the end for some really helpful tips…

  1. Start Acting Like You’re Already Sponsored

One of the biggest mistakes new creators make is waiting for brands to reach out before they start posting sponsored-style content. Big mistake. If you want brands to see you as a viable marketing partner, you have to show them how you would advertise their products. Start reviewing brands, products, and services as if you’re already working with them.

Take a product you love, maybe a skincare brand, a snack, or even a tech gadget and create content around it. Show it in your daily routine, give an honest review, and use professional-sounding language like, “I’ve been using this for a while, and let me tell you how I would rate it.” Tag the brand, engage with their content, and make it look like a collaboration. When brands see you naturally integrating their products into your content, they’re more likely to reach out for actual partnerships.

  1. Valentine Love Letters (to Brands That Don't Even Know You Exist Yet)

If you follow Creatuuls on Instagram, then you're already familiar with our Valentine love letter series. What's interesting for us to see is how 3 creators already secured brand deals from these love letters they wrote to brands they want to work with. They literally secured the deal by openly pitching themselves

If you want to get the best result out of a pitch like this, make sure you're already doing tip number 1 and have quality content that brands will be excited to see on your profile.

  1. Pitching to Brands During a Campaign

So, you see that Kuda bank has launched a campaign and they are working with big name creators, do you just watch and comment? Nope. You need to get delusional now.

Act like you're also sponsored by Kuda, create content around the campaign, try the product for yourself and tag them. If that content does really well, they'll be in your dms. And even if it does not do as well, but the video is high-quality, they will more likely repost your content and even pay you for more UGC stye content in the future.

When you're not a famous creator yet, your advantage over the bigger names has to be your creativity so don't hold back.

Monetizing the Delusion

So, how do you turn this “delusion” into real money? The answer is consistency and strategy. The more you post about brands, the more you position yourself as a creator who does brand deals—even if, at first, they’re self-initiated. Eventually, smaller brands will start reaching out, and that’s when you can start charging for your work.

Another thing you can do is to create content that subtly promotes you. If you’re making product review videos, end with something like, “If you’re a brand looking for someone who truly knows how to connect with an audience, let’s work together!” Put a media kit link in your bio. Mention that you’re open for collaborations in your captions. Make it ridiculously easy for brands to say, “Hey, we need to work with this creator.”

Some tips you must pay attention to

  • Find a niche that's less competitive: as a marketer myself, it's incredibly difficult for me to find creators to work with when I need them and this is because every creator is a fashion or beauty creator. Think about a more dynamic field like lifestyle, tech, remote work, parenting, etc. There's so much niche opportunity for you if you leave the oversaturated spaces alone.

  • Add "UGC or Content Creator" to your bio. PLEASE! and also add your location! Most people will not just run into your content, when you add certain keywords to your bio, you make it easy for a brand searching for 'UGC Creators in Lagos' to find you and work with you.

  • Prepare for collaborations in advance. Get your rate card ready and add an email to your bio where brands can contact you.

What they call Delusion, we call Confidence

A delusional content creator is never begging brands for deals. They are confidently attracting them by making it easy for brands to find them, love them and pay them. The more you put yourself out there, the more people will believe in your value.

So go ahead, start acting like you’re the hottest creator in your niche. Hype yourself up. Create content as if you already have the deals you want. Because sooner or later, the brands will believe it too—and that’s when the real money starts rolling in.
